A Hadoop Ecosystem Overview
Posted on Wednesday December 4th 2013 by Jubair
Big data is important now more than ever. Over 90% of all the data in today’s databases has been accumulated in the past two years, drawing upon major players such as the New York Stock Exchange, machine logs, or even Facebook. Previously, massive storage systems were compiled on hard drives which took a great deal of time both in writing information and distributing it across networks. Capabilities for storing and analyzing this huge amount of data were highly limited.
Hadoop is a solution to this problem. It is a large data ecosystem that allows for distributed processing and storage. The system stores datasets across many computers with shared access, providing much shorter analysis times. Additionally, replicated datasets are stored across systems in case of hardware failure.

An Argument for “Case-Based” Mobile Website Design
Posted on Sunday April 29th 2012 by Jubair
I keep stumbling across articles about the mobile web, and mobile web design best practices. The argument basically boils down to one basic question: To create a separate mobile site, or to not create a separate mobile site? But my question is, why is this turning into a war?
Exploring Spirit Web Site Launched

Plus 3 Interactive is pleased to announce the launch of a new Web site designed and developed by our team. Exploring Spirit is a site dedicated to the exploration of spiritual paths, and the connection of human spirituality, the natural world, and community. The author of the site, Light Feather, wanted a blog that was more than a blog, so we worked to create a streamlined, attractive site that provides users with easy access to three sections, each with its own requirements.
Steve Jobs - Great Innovator
Posted on Sunday October 16th 2011 by Jubair
We at Plus 3 Interactive are not alone in recognizing Steve Jobs as the greatest American inventor of the past 100 years. Jobs is rivaled only by Thomas A. Edison in the number and scope of truly innovative and useful ideas. He gave the world a personal computer we could take home and really have fun with. Jobs imagined colorful, useful, fun, well-built products and features that we would want and need “someday”, and then he invented them for today. He brought us full-color computer monitors, seamless applications, easy-to-use interfaces, beautiful fonts, tight and fast operating systems, and he topped all of that with integration with Linux and Windows for our convenience. And then there are the great Apple devices – the iconic iPods, iPhones, iPads, and the revolutionary touch pads which have blasted onto the scene and are now inseparable parts of our lives. Jobs gave us all of this, and apps too!

After years of taking clients on dream trips to the Alaska snowfields, the White Mountains in New Hampshire, the high Andes in Ecuador, and the wilderness rivers of Maine, River Lee knew it was time to reach out to a broader customer base through a well-designed Web site. He selected Plus Three Interactive to develop his new Maine Bound Guides Web site, which reflects his professionalism and in-depth experience. His clients come from all walks of life, but they come to River - time and again - to help them get away from everyday life for a few days or weeks and enjoy the natural beauty of the wilderness.
Finding the right Business Card Print Service
Posted on Thursday October 28th 2010 by Jubair
Recently I was looking for a company to provide print services for our business cards. This was tricky at first because there are many options out there (like any services these days really), and finding the right one is very important when dealing with something that represents part of your company image; I am not a big fan of “trial and error” when it comes to professional services. After completing the design for our business cards, one of our designers Phil recommended I check out MOO Business Cards. I followed his recommendation and am very happy with the results; our business cards are of the quality we expected.
